Individual Therapy

Individual therapy at the Relationship Center focuses on defining and reaching personal goals, gaining useful insight and receiving support with self development and relationship success. We provide a private, safe place to work through personal issues, examine & release unresolved emotional pain, limiting beliefs as well as negative feelings of insecurity, guilt, anger and depression. Our work enables clients to develop positive, healthy thinking and new found feelings of confidence and success.
Couples Therapy

At The Relationship Center we emphasize teaching skills for deepening communication and connection in partnership. Learning to build emotional safety between couples often starts with the therapist facilitating a setting of trust and respect for each person; recognizing that each is doing their best with their current knowledge and skills. We also recognize that seemingly negative or counter-productive behaviors are usually a defense against feeling threatened or feeling insecure. We help people discover the causes of their hurt, anger and resentment while finding alternative, more constructive ways to share their needs and desires with one another in a way that makes it possible for those needs to b fulfilled and satisfied.
Family Therapy

Family Therapy is usually built on the same basic beliefs and strategies as couples therapy. Essential members of the family story may be included at different times in the therapy with a continuing focus on knowing and respecting each person’s individual experiences and beliefs. We study learned family patterns sometimes passed on through the generations. Our main emphasis is on repair of hurts and misunderstandings in the family that are in the way of people feeling safe and secure with one another as well as fulfilled within themselves. We teach parents to listen to and respect their children's experience and we teach all family members how to speak in a way that they can be heard, understood and appreciated.

The "Imago" is a composite image in the unconscious of the significant character traits and behaviors of childhood primary caretakers. By pairing us with an "Imago match" — an individual who is like our caretakers in emotionally significant ways - our unconscious drives us to re-create our childhood psychological dynamics in an attempt to heal the central wounds we carry. The process of Imago Relationship Therapy is aimed at using this context to transform relationships into a therapeutic encounter and fuel for each partner's psychological and spiritual self-completion.

Internal Family Systems Therapy (IFS) is a comprehensive, non-pathologizing approach for working with individuals, couples, and families. Developed by Dr. Richard Schwartz, IFS recognizes that our psyches are made up of different parts, sometimes called sub-personalities. "You can think of them as little people inside of us. Each part has its own perspective, feelings, memories, goals and motivations. Understanding parts gives you a great deal of power to change your inner system. It is possible to get to know these parts, develop a relationship with them and help them heal. Once healed, they no longer need to behave in ways that seem at odds with your intentions, goals and values" - Bonnie Weiss LCSW
